The Perfect Coexistence against
                                               the Trouble with Ambilaterality and Over

 Everything surrounding lives considered and shared by us has been created and existed making a pair like light and darkness, earth and sea and so on since the beginning of the world. Human beings have both sides of good and bad and reason and sense represented as ambilaterality of which confrontation has always caused complications. However, the fundamental reason of troubles is from not the ambilaterality but another distinct existence in the unknown world over the both sides. Although one firmly believes that the directly opposed both sides can define, solve and make understanding for everything in the world, the gap between the ambilaterality and the over is far as much as one between the real and the ideal.            
Jaeyeon Choi has doubts about something externally and rationally suitable but invisible and undefinable depending on the social order defined by ambilaterality. It starts with questions if it is fact or illusion/imagination, fiction or non-fiction, and truth or untruth. There are facts consistently used in the works: frames, mirrors, lines and shining stars. One is living confined in the trouble from the intention to break the frame and to be unable to do it and then sometimes abandons and collapses. However it is the fact that the frame can often give us senses of stability and tranquility. In Choi’s works, the frame means the stifling area of lives with artistic, social standards but unable to break as well as safe, cozy spaces. Therefore, the frame is the tool making the perfect coexistence to solve the trouble from the existence of ambilarterlity and over. The frame is ever the same, but only the different on the use and the result.      
          Expecting the reflection in a mirror absolutely acts like the outside, one is raising a hand toward another one in the mirror in front of it. Yet the one in mirror comes as different one overlapped, lengthened, overturned and ripped. The inside and outside one in mirror are totally different contrary to natural expectations. The mirror makes the reflection as well as the increasing confusion of the world and then causes unfixable, uncountable possibilities. Choi recognizes the existence of something over the ambilarterlity.     
A clear frame and another rusty one stand putting the mirror between two sides. The two frames have wholly different external features, but fundamentally just in one body.  The main reason making them different is not their own but outside elements surrounding them. This concept also shows in the diverse lines and stars in the works. The complex relationships in the world making our minds comfortable but sometimes indisposed. One human being in the entangled relationships becomes one general as well as special being like one of a great number of stars in the huge universe.     
The stars are fully displayed in a night sky. The stars are not just light. It is the complex thing including many beautiful, sad stories and precious reminiscences of human beings. To be accurate, the star looks like the light, but it is not the light on the same case of that ‘I’ considered by me is not just everything of ‘I’. The star is in the unknown world transcending the time and the space where viewers are living and the viewers’ senses of visibility and discretion. However, we also know that the stars are in the frame called the universe as well.    
          Believing and admitting that everything is in the each frame, the complications can be changed into the free and the safety in the perfectly ideal frame of coexistence. And Choi is trying to find a way out the troubles and knows what the solution is now. Like in Choi’s works, the trouble caused by the complex ambilartelity and over might finally be solved with the perfect coexistence. ■
